It’s beginning to look a lot like…
I don’t know about you, but I’ve beening singing “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” quite often. Of course, when I sing no one is around lest they shriek and run away screaming. No, a good speaking voice doesn’t guarantee that one can carry a tune…in fact even my husband has never heard me sing. But, I digress…it’s Christmas I want to write about, the holiday season. It’s no secret, our country–and particularly our area –has been hit by really tough times. In my house, probably like in yours, there won’t be as many gifts. We’re saving more and spending less. I guess it comes in handy that this is the first year my son doesn’t believe in Santa so I can tell him what’s going on. Every morning as I drive him to school we pray and most times our prayers now are for our economy and families in need.
I think this is a great opportunity for us to focus our what we do have. Of course, we have our loved ones. I really think my son is grasping that this year. For him, like many youngsters, it’s been tough to see beyond what’s under the tree on Christmas. This year seems different…even though there won’t be that many gifts and we’re not going on our annual Christmas trip to see Grandpa and Gramma in Arizona, he says he’s looking forward to the “best Christmas ever”! He says it’s because of our family. I just go re-married this year and it will be our first together. We also have a new pet, my husband’s cat, Noah. That’s THREE cats and one dog (A shi-tzu named Sebastian). We have more animals in our house than people! Yes, we’re animal lovers to be sure…and we’ll hang stockings for all of them! So we have our family.. and we have so much more! We know Jesus is the reason for the season and that makes all the difference in the world…just remembering who and what we’re celebrating!
It’s a new focus this Christmas. Celebrating our gift from God, enjoying our family — and whenever and wherever possible, giving to others. Merry Christmas to you and your family from me and mine! I’d love to hear about your Christmas this year!

Sandy,
Taking what you said one step further, perhaps the bad economy might have a silver lining; a renewed focus on the things that really matter. A renewed focus on Christ the one and only true savior of the world. A renewed focus on all that God has given us. All that said, I’m still praying for a good economy to return to our State and our country.
You are the best voice in radio… PERIOD!!!
