Summer Madness

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

How is your summer going?  Probably busy, but hopefully fun.  I hope you have had a chance to check out some of the great summer concerts and events.  It’s a summer I’ll always remember, of course, because of my wedding…but also for all the wonderful oppotunites to enjoy great music, meet new people and see old friends.  From Canton to Cranbrook, from Birmingham to Downtown Detroit-there’s been so much going on.  There have been funny moments, like when we lost power at the Canton concert last week and “Hey Day”, the sax player from Kimmie Horn’s band  and I did the bunny hop while we waited for the electicity to come back so they could play…there was taking my nine year old son through the Cranbrook Art Museuam and seeing his face light up during “American Summer:  Music on the Green”.  And so on and so on…what’s your favorite summer memory so far?  Write me at kovach@wvmv.com or use the comment section below.

ps:  I posted more wedding pictures–check out my page http://www.wvmv.com/pages/311166.php

Last week was my first to take in the new American Summer: Music on the Green series at Cranbrook and well…WOW!  Just a glimpse at the breathtaking grounds outside the Art Museum are enough to get you hooked.  I just loved watching Linda Boston and Permission.  Not just great music, but spoken word and dance was performed in this highly tasteful yet, well–energetic to say the least — interactive performance. The band even handed out percussion instruments so the audience could play along.  You can bet the kids loved that!!  It’s a wonderful family event to be sure.  Kudos to Cranbrook and the Arts League of Michigan for this spectacular event.  There are still more performances to catch Thursdays in July…plus you can check out the museum as they keep it open late. Click Here for more info!  I’ll see you there!

Old married lady…

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Old married lady is what some of my co-workers have taken to calling me.  I got married a couple of weeks ago which is why I haven’t blogged in a while.  As you know, weddings can consume a lot of your time and then some.  The wedding was beautiful and I promise to share picturess when I get them back.  The ones I took aren’t worth posting. Anyway, it’s really the marriage that matters and I have been blessed to find love again after being divorced for many years.  And yes, my son and new husband get along great–in fact he seemed to be even happier than me at my wedding!  Last week at the the Canton Color Tour Jazz Fest I met the Bruces…Bruce Bruce (his real name!) and his wife Patricia.  They stopped me to give me their congratulations and upon hearing that they had been married 34 years, I had to ask them:  what’s the secret.  One of the things they told me was don’t take everything so seriously–enjoy each other and have fun.  I like that advice.  What do you think…fellow old married ladies and men?  Any more advice, write me at kovach@wvmv.com or simply use the comment section below.
